Dear Family:

I neglected to mention that Shelly emailed me regarding the Entertainment Book and she mentioned that Kristin’s Birthday was drawing near. I just wanted to let you all know that in honor of Kristin and due to her upcoming Birthday, I ordered the Entertainment Book. I hope the funds will help someone!

BIRTHDAY MESSAGE (Original poster: Allison Robertson)

Filed under: The forum from the old website — Taryn @ 8:15 pm

Dear Taryn, Girls and Family:

My mom reminded me that today was Kristin’s Birthday and I thought I would drop a note to everyone. Today is a day when all of us will remember Kristin fondly because it was such a special day 16 years ago. I know that she is celebrating in Heaven and just think of the beautiful music she must be listening to. Taryn, I want you to know that I’m thinking about you most of all because it is not only a happy day because of the birth of Kristin, but also a sad day in that you are missing Kristin so much. I was never able to spend a birthday with Kristin because we lived so far apart, but I will always remember her vitality, spunk, beautiful face and wonderful presence. She was and is such a big part of our family (even those of us who live far away) and can remember stories about her great birthday parties. I always remember the neat costumes Taryn made for Halloween and such.

To everyone I wish you much happiness today and just wanted you all to know that Aunt Kay, Aunt Helen and Allison are thinking of you all. We love all of you! Most of all, Taryn, I want to say that you have done an excellent job in keeping Kristin’s memory alive. This website is beautiful and the pictures are wonderful. This is the best birthday gift you ever gave Kristin because it is helping other people express themselves in ways they have not before. Kristin would give you a “thumbs up!”

Happy Birthday Kristin, we miss and love you dearly.

Allison

Birthday remembrances (Original poster: Shelly L.) September 23, 2002

Filed under: The forum from the old website — Taryn @ 5:14 am

With October 1st approaching, I am again reminded of Kristin’s wonderful past birthday celebrations. This morning I was looking through my memory box and I found a bunch of invitations to her birthday parties.

Here’s what I found:

1st birthday was a swim party held 10/3/87 at her Coriander house

2nd birthday was again a swim party held 10/1/88 at Coriander

3rd birthday was also a swim party on 10/1/89 at Coriander

I can’t find a card for 4th or 5th

6th birthday was celebrated 10/4/92 at Mehl Park

I can’t find a card for 7th

8th birthday was a baseball and water balloon party on 10/2/94 at Mehl Park

I can’t find a card for 9th or 10th

11th birthday was held 10/4/97 at McCormick Park and included volleyball playing

I can’t find a card for 12th thru 14th, but I know the 14th was a swim party at her Orange Grove house.

Can anybody fill in any of the missing details?

Let's Roll! (Original poster: Shelly L.) September 18, 2002

This evening while I was shopping at Target I bought the new book “Let’s Roll!”, written by Lisa Beamer. She is the widow of Todd Beamer, who is considered one of the heroes on the downed Pennsylvania flight on 9/11/01. It is very easy-reading; in fact I read the whole book (all 312 pages) in one night. Despite losing her husband, facing instant ‘celebrity’ status at the most difficult time in her life, forced to raise her two young sons on her own, giving birth to their daughter months after her husband’s death, Lisa’s attitude and faith is still strong. I found it to be a very encouraging story in a time where situations in our lives don’t always make sense and goodness is often hard to find. If you read it, I hope you get as much out of it as I did.

As a sympathetic gesture for what you’re going through today, and, as always, in remembrance of Kristin, I gave blood today. Heal quickly!

Love ya, Shelly

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I’d see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I’d hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say “I love you,”
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I’m sure you’ll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there’s always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say “I love you,”
And certainly there’s another chance
to say our “Anything I can do?”

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I’d like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you’re waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you’ll surely regret the day,

That you didn’t take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you’ll always hold them dear

Take time to say “I’m sorry,”
“Please forgive me,” “Thank you,” or “It’s okay.”
And if tomorrow never comes,
you’ll have no regrets about today.

i thought that this was a beautiful piece, and wanted to share it with you

love always,
valerie roberson!
