Hello Taryn and Family,

I wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you all today, praying for you all, and remembering the sweetness of Kristin and the brightness of her smile. May you all be comforted by the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort today as you reflect on the memories and the gift of her life.

To Kristin’s family and all who knew and loved her,

Today is the anniversary of the day our Lord brought Kristin to be WITH HIM!!! I praise Him that her name is written in His Book of Life. May He fill your thoughts with precious and happy memories of your dear girl, to encourage you and lift your spirits.

My wish is that I could have known Kristin. I will be proud to be her Aunt and someday see her in Heaven; I look forward to that.

Know that you all are in my prayers and thoughts today.

Laura

Wishing everyone God’s blessings during the coming year.

Kristin, tomorrow it will be three years since we hugged goodbye for the last time, and I wish I had held you tighter and longer. You will be in our thoughts tomorrow as we celebrate the birth of Christ. I look forward to our reunion around His heavenly throne.

Love,

Grandma

Light A Candle In Memory Of A Loved One (Original poster: Virginia Wiersma) December 10, 2003

Filed under: The forum from the old website — Taryn @ 10:47 pm

On Sunday, December 14, families around the world will light candles in memory of a child who died. It could be a premature infant or a grown son or daughter killed in combat, but the message is the same; remembrance for families who are bereaved. The candle-lighting is set for 7 p.m. in each time zone. Hundreds of organized lightings will take place at sites across America (including some Hard Rock Cafes) courtesy of The Compassionate Friends, who sponsor the annual Worldwide Candle Lighting. You also can light a candle in your home. For details, or to learn about the 600 chapters of The Compassionate Friends, go to http://www.compassionatefriends.org or call
1-877-969-0010.

Taryn, Amber and Cheyenne, we remember, and we will light a candle at the Childrens Memorial Park.

Kristin, we remember, you are in our hearts.

Our love,

Mom and Dad/
Grandpa and Grandma

Kids Unlimited Show (Original poster: Virginia Wiersma) November 10, 2003

Sunday we attended the Kids Unlimited production “Seasons of Love” Winter 2003. Amber and Cheyenne you were superb!

Everyone can be very proud of being part of the KU family. All your hard work was so worthwhile and gave enjoyment to so many.

Kristin you were there in the hearts and minds of those who love you. This memorial was printed in the program book:

In loving memory of our friend, classmate & teacher Kristin Kay Smith

Some People

Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to new understanding
with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts,
and we are never, ever the same.

Kristin was a dedicated member of KU for almost 10 years of her life of 14 years. The first time we presented “Seasons of Love” three years ago was her last big production with us. We miss her more than we can express. Many of the numbers in this show remind us of her. The last piece she choreographed for KU was “You’ll be in My Heart” featured in Act I. We have kept the choreography the same in honor of her. In Act II, she was a featured dancer in “Autumn Leaves.” Our K* class honors her still by having the courage to perform this number without her. Please applaud a little louder so she will hear you in heaven.

(We would like to know who wrote “Some People.”)

Our love,

Grandma and Grandpa

Something I wrote at school today- (Original poster: Kristin's sister Cheyenne) October 14, 2003

I was one of three people that won a contest on this.

What worries me the most in the world is when we get in the car and go somewhere becausee I think we are going to crash. I lost my sister that way and I miss her and so does my mom and my other sister. I think that my mom would miss me too. My sister was only 14 when she died so it worries me that I will die when I am young. So that is what worries me the most in the world.

Happy Birthday 2003 (Original poster: Haley Henning) October 3, 2003

I’m sorry I didn’t write yesterday. I definately didn’t forget about Kristin’s 17th birthday. But I had some trouble logging in. I miss my cousin so much but it is hard to come up with the right words to express it. So I apoligize if this is difficult to understand. Earlier I was thinking about how many times I reflect on my memories of Kristin. Lately I’ve noticed that a lot of times when I talk to people, my story will start out with “my cousin Kristin..” and go on from there and most of the time I am talking to someone that never got the chance to know her in person, but through me, they now kind of do. And I was thinking that I’m sure many of you may do the same as I do and through us Kristin’s memory will live on to see many other birthdays. I love you all.

Happy Birthday Dobedo! I miss you tons!
Love, Haley
