My name is Karen Southern (formerly Karen York). I did not have the pleasure of knowing Kristin – I was a teen when she was a tot. My sister Tracy knew her (though not well) – I remember her coming home from the 1991 state pageant (Tracy’s first state) and talking about a cute little tot named Kristin Kay Smith. She talked about how sweet she was and how much personality she had (I think Kristin was five when my sister met her).
Tracy came back to Cinderella in 2000 and it was then that I heard of the tragic loss in the Smith family.
As I said, I did not know Kristin, but I wanted to extend my sypmathies to the entire Smith family and let you know that a Cinderella girl all the way in Belgium is thinking of your family.
Take care.
Once a Cinderella girl… always a Cinderella girl (Original poster: Shelly L.)Dear Karen,Your thoughtful post is another example of the friendships and incredible lifelong bonds that can develop through the Cinderella program. I don’t know how you found Kristin’s website, but we’re glad you did. Hopefully Kristin’s mom will be able to post another series of photographs soon… she’s posted the “school days” and I know she wants to add a “Cinderella album” to the website. Is your sister Tracy still competing? Thanks for writing and we hope to hear from you again.Kristin’s Aunt Shelly
