Dear Kristin,
You have been in my thoughts especially today. Happy Sweet Sixteen! I really miss you and wish you were still here with us. I know I would have been invited to an awesome party. But I guess you are having the best ever up there. I love you!

Aunt Taryn, Amber, and Cheyenne,
I love you all. Hope the potluck at your house is fun. I’m sure there will be a lot of memories of our Kristin shared with friends. Wish I lived closer so I could be there. Amber and Cheyenne, I miss you both. Too bad you couldn’t come to visit us with your mom and Audrey. But I’ll see you girls soon.

Love, Haley

Birthday thoughts (Original poster: Shelly L.)

Although I’ve gone through the motions of a fairly normal day, Kristin has been on my mind since I woke up. Earlier this morning I was looking around the internet to see if I could find an appropriate poem to post here on the occasion of her Sweet 16th. I ran across one that made me think about Kristin in her New Home.

Although not a “birthday poem” exactly, the poem I found was written for Tiny Tim. For those of you who don’t know, Tiny Tim was an entertainer in the 1960’s and 70’s. He had a very unique style and sound. “Tip-Toe Thru The Tulips With Me” was one of his famous songs. Anyway, after I saw this poem, I wanted to find out a little more about his life from his website. Tiny Tim died in 1996 when he was in his mid 60’s. His funeral liturgy booklet says “The most important event in Tiny Tim’s life happened sometime in 1951 when he was 19 years old. Some neighborhood boys invited him to a revival meeting and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. For the rest of his life, he struggled to obey God’s will in every area of his life… Tiny did many things in his life and made many people happy, but the most important thing he ever did was to entrust his life to Jesus Christ. All the fame, wealth, or success in the world could not have gotten Tiny where he is now.”

Here on this earth, Kristin spent a lot of time reading, studying and asking questions. In that respect, she was so much like her dad, John. He knew a lot about everything! Although I’m sad for the rest of us today, I think about John and Kristin celebrating her birthday together. With their mutual thirst for knowledge, I hope they spent the day together, hand in hand, searching out all of the answers to the many questions that just baffle the rest of us…

How many stars are in the sky?
How many blueberries in a pie?
When exactly is ‘by and by’?
Where will the breeze take the butterfly?

How many moonbeams are in the moon?
How many brides in the month of June?
Does the blue-footed booby sing out of tune?
Is the millenium coming soon?

Do grasshoppers dance with katydids?
Do octopuses shake hands with squids?
Can happiness travel where hope forbids?
Did aliens build the pyramids?

Do all rivers everywhere run to the sea?
Do daffodils dwell in harmony?
How many days in eternity?
How many leaves on a lemon tree?

How many lemurs can leap on a limb?
Do mermaids sing louder than seraphim?
When will the stars blink and slowly grow dim?

Oh, the answers are clear as a silver bell
As clear as the depths of a wishing well:
The angels know, but they won’t tell
They’ll never, ever, ever tell.

Dear Family:

I neglected to mention that Shelly emailed me regarding the Entertainment Book and she mentioned that Kristin’s Birthday was drawing near. I just wanted to let you all know that in honor of Kristin and due to her upcoming Birthday, I ordered the Entertainment Book. I hope the funds will help someone!

BIRTHDAY MESSAGE (Original poster: Allison Robertson)

Dear Taryn, Girls and Family:

My mom reminded me that today was Kristin’s Birthday and I thought I would drop a note to everyone. Today is a day when all of us will remember Kristin fondly because it was such a special day 16 years ago. I know that she is celebrating in Heaven and just think of the beautiful music she must be listening to. Taryn, I want you to know that I’m thinking about you most of all because it is not only a happy day because of the birth of Kristin, but also a sad day in that you are missing Kristin so much. I was never able to spend a birthday with Kristin because we lived so far apart, but I will always remember her vitality, spunk, beautiful face and wonderful presence. She was and is such a big part of our family (even those of us who live far away) and can remember stories about her great birthday parties. I always remember the neat costumes Taryn made for Halloween and such.

To everyone I wish you much happiness today and just wanted you all to know that Aunt Kay, Aunt Helen and Allison are thinking of you all. We love all of you! Most of all, Taryn, I want to say that you have done an excellent job in keeping Kristin’s memory alive. This website is beautiful and the pictures are wonderful. This is the best birthday gift you ever gave Kristin because it is helping other people express themselves in ways they have not before. Kristin would give you a “thumbs up!”

Happy Birthday Kristin, we miss and love you dearly.
